Tim Tigner is one of my favorite authors. In Stolen Thoughts, he has taken an improbable plot and turned it into the most believable, suspenseful, and real narrative. I was spellbound from the start. In today's world of Alexa, Siri, etc., one can almost believe we live the world of Cassandra right now. In fact, I now look at my Echo Dots in a whole new way. At the end of the book, Tim thoughtfully goes into his methods while writing the book - he originally had many chapters to set the stage but deleted them in the final version and he did it masterfully. The earlier chapters are not needed to enable the reader to fully understand how the characters arrived at the point in their lives where the book beings. Bravo! I expected that this would be a very good read, based on other books I have read by this author. However, I found the narrative disjointed, and too many loose or non-existent connections between the characters. I am willing to suspend some disbelief when reading a novel whose premise is that it's possible to read minds. Actually, the mind reading technology was one of the most believable parts of this novel. I'm not going to provide any spoilers, since others obviously really liked it. I will note, however, that the author says that many chapters were cut from his original version, and then were re-ordered within the book. Perhaps a more critical review by a good editor would have smoothed things out.
